Obituary

Elizabeth (Babin) Doucet, of Melrose, died at the Melrose Wakefield Hospital on July 30th at 100 years of age. Elizabeth was born in Nova Scotia and taught school at the age of 17. She came to America at the age of 18 and worked as a Seamstress for Filene's in Boston for many years and resided in Melrose since 1930. Elizabeth was a member of St. Joseph's Church in Malden, St. Mary's Church in Melrose and a member of the Catholic Daughters of America for many years. She married John L. Doucet in 1928 and enjoyed 72 years of marriage. Elizabeth was the loving mother of Leonard A. Doucet & his late wife Patricia of Norton, Estelle R. Pothier & her husband William of Malden, Joseph A. Doucet & his wife Patricia of Melrose and John L. Doucet & his late wife Teresa of Winchester. Caring sister of the late Margaret Turner, Bernard Babin and Edmund Babin. Also survived by 17 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren and many nieces & nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Monday August 4th at 9AM. Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, Herbert St., Melrose at 10AM. Relatives & friends invited. Visiting hours will be held prior to the mass from 8:30-9:30AM. Burial in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Elizabeth's name to Catholic TV, 34 Chestnut St., P.O. Box 9196 Watertown, MA 02471 or the charity of your choice.
