Elizabeth 'Betty' (Botta) Giacalone passed away at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital, on February 25, 2007, after a courageous battle. She was surrounded by her loving husband of 56 years and three children. She was 77. Born in Boston on May 14, 1929, Betty spent her childhood years in the North End. Later, she moved to Melrose, where she has lived for the past 52 years with her husband Anthony and their children. Betty was a devoted wife and mother who wholeheartedly cherished her family life. She was proud of always cooking traditional Italian meals and taking care of her family and home. She also loved playing cards and talking to her friends. Each Spring, she looked forward to planting her annual flower garden. Mrs. Giacalone was loving wife of Anthony Giacalone. Mother of Donna and Lisa Giacalone, both of Melrose, and Anthony, Jr. of Boston. Sister of the late Rocco and Anthony Botta. Daughter of the late Antonio and Maria (Frallicciardi) Botta. Sister of the late Rocco & Anthony Botta. Also survived by many friends & relatives. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Thurs. March 1st at 9AM. Funeral Mass in St. Marys Church, Herbert St. Melrose, at 10AM. Relatives & friends invited. Visiting hours Wed. 3:00-8:00PM. Interment in Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose.
