Elizabeth A. Betty (Dickinson) Madden passed away at the Epoch Senior Care Center, in Melrose, on August 5, 2007. She was 75 years of age. Born in Northampton, raised in Amherst & Melrose, she graduated from St. Marys Grammar & St. Marys High School. Mrs. Madden worked for the Telephone Company for a few years before raising her family and has been a resident of Melrose since 1945. Betty was dedicated wife, mother & grandmother who loved watching the Red Sox. She was the wife of John N. Jack Madden. Mother of Ellen E. Dockery of Stoneham, Stephen P. Madden & his wife Linda of Tewksbury, Jane F. Lessard & her husband Richard of Reading, Mary J. Klopotoski & her husband Larry of Peabody and Elizabeth A. Madden of Melrose. Sister of Martha Coughlin of Haverhill & Eleanor Dickinson of Amherst. Grandmother of James, Brian, Christopher, Stephanie, Katie, Erica, Laura, Andrew, Julia & Elisa. Great grandmother of Brennan. Also survived by several nieces & nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Wed. August 8th at 8AM. Funeral Mass in St. Marys Church, Herbert St. Melrose at 9AM. Relatives & friends invited. Visiting hours Tues. 4-8PM. Interment in Wyoming Cemetery Melrose. Memorial contributions may be made in Bettys name to Alzheimers Research Assoc., 311 Arsenal St. Watertown, 02472.
