Obituary

Elizabeth A. (Betty) McCarte died suddenly in Florida on March 26, 2013. Betty was born and raised in Melrose, MA. Born on January 24, 1931, she went on to attend St. Mary's Grammar School in Melrose and graduated from St. Mary's High School. After high school, Betty pursued a career in nursing by first attending St. Margaret's School of Nursing in Dorchester and later followed by attending the St. Joseph School of Nursing in Maine. After school she spent many years as a registered nurse at the Chelsea Soldiers Home. Betty was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Church in Melrose and was part of the Our Lady Sodality group. She loved spending time at the church with her close friends. Her home on Melbourne Ave was one of her favorite places to spend her time. She was a productive, loving member of our community and will truly be missed. Betty was Daughter of the late Edward & Katherine (Morrissey) McCarte. Sister of Katherine M. "Kay" McCarte, Margaret E. McCarte both of Melrose and Sister Evelyn F. McCarte DC of NJ Niece of Helen Lambert of Melrose. Also survived by numerous cousins. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Wednesday, April 3rd at 9AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary's Church, Herbert St. Melrose at 10AM. Relatives & friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting Hours Tuesday from 3:00-7:00PM. Interment at Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Church, 46 Myrtle St. Melrose, MA 02176.
