Elizabeth M. Betty (Kenefick) Plant of North Reading, formerly of Melrose passed away on Sunday, October 14, 2007 at the Sunbridge Nursing Home of North Reading. She was 92 years old. Born in Boston on April 17, 1915 to the late Thomas M. & Elizabeth M. (Sheehan) Kenefick, she was raised in Medford and graduated from Medford High School, Class of 1933. Betty lived in Stoneham for 9 years, was a Melrose resident since 1979 and a member of St. Marys Church of Melrose. Betty worked as a secretary for 26 years in the office of the Harvard College Fund at Harvard University. After her retirement, Betty volunteered for 5 years as a receptionist at the Boston Regional Medical Center of Stoneham. She enjoyed needlework, playing bridge, reading, and times spent with her family. She was the devoted wife of 21 years to the late Thomas L. Plant, loving mother of Elizabeth L. Kelley & Barbara A. Plant, both of Melrose. Caring sister of Gertrude Edgeworth, Margaret Kenefick & Robert Kenefick, all of Melrose & the late Mary Madden, Thomas, John, Francis & Grace Kenefick, Josephine Hanrahan, Eleanor Peterson & Kathleen Crowley. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, grand nieces & grand nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Wed. Oct. 17th at 9:30AM. Funeral Mass in St. Marys Church, Herbert St. Melrose at 10:30AM. Family & friends invited. Visiting hours Tues. 4-8PM. Interment in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
