Elizabeth Marie "Betty"(Merola) West, of Melrose, passed away Monday, June 23, 2008 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was 81 years old. Born and raised in Everett, MA, she was a graduate of Everett High School, class of 1944. Elizabeth was a homemaker who enjoyed her family and life. She had an appreciation for birds & nature, reading, cooking, ballet & music. She loved to exercise and did aerobics every day since she was 52 years old while dancing to her Richard Simmons tapes. She was a life long learner and a truly spiritual person who admired the Native American Cultural traditions. She was the devoted wife of nearly 60 years to Anthony West, loving mother of Richard N. West of Melrose, Kenneth A. West, also of Melrose, Maryjean E. West of Nahant, Paul J. West of NY, NY & Elizabeth A. Kuhlmann & her husband Richard of Manchester, NH. Cherished grandmother of Ashley McCarthy, Genevieve, Annalise & Graham Kuhlmann. Caring sister of Robert Merola & Richard Merola, both of North Andover & the late Susan Fiorillo. Also survived by many nieces, nephews & cousins. A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 27th at 11AM in Wyoming Cemetery, Sylvan St., Melrose. Family & friends invited.
