Ella T. (Laurano) Letterie of Melrose passed away on Friday, December 14, 2007 at the Melrose Wakefield Hospital. She was 79 years old. Born on July 10, 1928 in East Boston, MA to the late Anthony & Rita (Cantalupi) Laurano, she was raised in East Boston, graduated from East Boston High School, class of 1945 and attended Boston College for 3 years. She worked as an office manager in Melrose in the 70s and then for the Gillette Company for 12 years in the Collections Department. Ella lived in Melrose for 43 years and was very active with the Most Blessed Sacrament Church, the womens guild and was a member of the executive board of the Silver Stringers. She was the loving mother of Raymond A. Letterie & his wife Laurie of Melrose, Ernest R. Letterie & his wife Janet of Virginia & Gloria R. Hernon, also of Melrose. Cherished grandmother of Ashley & Matthew Letterie, Heather & Ernest, Jr. Letterie & Rachel, Brandon, Jillian & Sean Hernon. Caring sister of Catherine Melchionda of Revere, Mary Memmolo of Barrington, RI, Edna Buonagario, Gloria Laurano, both of East Boston and the late Eleanor Laurano & Rev. Anthony J. Laurano. Also survived by many nieces & nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Wed. Dec. 19th at 10:30AM. Funeral Mass in Most Blessed Sacrament Church 1155 Main St. Wakefield at 11AM. Family & friends invited. Visiting hours prior to the Mass 8:30-10:30 in the funeral home. Interment is private.
