Ellen May Twibell, of Melrose, died at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Medford on Oct. 23, 2005 at the age of 85. Ellen was born in Boston, raised in Everett and graduated from Everett High School, Class of 1939. She worked in the Food Service Dept. at the Melrose Wakefield Hospital for many years until her retirement. Ellen was a Melrose resident since 1956 and a member of St. Marys Church for many years. She was a licensed pilot, flying piper cub planes, an avid reader, gardener, girl scout leader and took fencing lessons. Ellen also loved church bazaars, plays and yards sales. She was the loving aunt of Ann Marie Scully & her late husband David of Medford. Cherished sister of the late Elizabeth (Twibell) Leary. She was the great aunt of Mary LoPreste of Burlington, Andrew Scully of Everett, Thomas Scully of OH, Stephen Scully of Reading, Margaret Anchondo of AZ and David Scully of CA. Also survived by 9 great grandnieces & nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Wednesday Oct. 26th at 8AM. Relatives & friends are invited. Funeral Mass in St. Marys Church, Herbert St., Melrose at 9AM. Visiting hours will be held from 8-8:45AM prior to the Mass. Burial in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Ellens memory to St. Jude Childrens Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905.
