Emily A. Ollie Demenkow passed away at Childrens Hospital in Boston, on June 26th, after a courageous battle with cancer; she was 6 years old. Emily was born in Oceanside, CA, lived in California for 4 years and the past 2 years in Melrose. Emily attended preschool at Ripley School in Melrose and kindergarten at Hoover School in Melrose. She always wanted to be a princess; she loved the color pink, Cinderella, swimming, outdoors, running & shell hunting on the beach, parks, singing and school. Emily loved her brothers Tim & Andrew and all the nurses, doctors and staff at Childrens Hospital, where she spent the last 6 months. She was surrounded by her loving family and her parents who never left her side. Emily was the beloved & cherished daughter of Gunnery Sergeant Shawn P. Demenkow USMC and Anne M. (Wallace) Demenkow of Melrose. Loving sister of Timothy S. & Andrew R. Demenkow. Beloved granddaughter of Loretta Wallace & her late husband Ralph of Wakefield, Paul & Fran Demenkow of Wakefield and Robert L. & Barbara Hallstrom of Sebago, ME. Great granddaughter of Marguerite Wallace of Reading. Also survived by numerous loving aunts, uncles & cousins. A funeral service will be held at The Church of the Incarnation, 425 Upham St. Melrose, on Tuesday, June 28th at 7:30PM. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours will be held at Incarnation Church on Tuesday from 3:00 7:30PM with a Reception of the Body at 3:00PM. Graveside prayers will be held at Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield, on Wed. June 29th, at 9:30AM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Emily Demenkow Fund, in care of Eastern Bank, 411 Main St. Melrose 02176, proceeds will be distributed to Emilys favorite charities.
