DeSantis
Oct 14, 1928 — Aug 24, 2026
Emma A. (Bodi) DeSantis, of Melrose, passed away on August 24, 2026, at 97 years of age.
Emma Alice Bodi was born on October 14, 1928, in Dedham, Massachusetts, Emma Alice Bodi was the last surviving sibling of three brothers who served in the military and two loving sisters.
She was a devoted mother to her two children, Michele DeSantis Jr. and Donna G. Comeau, and a proud grandmother to five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Emma was truly the matriarch of her family, known for her strong will, determination, and many accomplishments. She married Michele DeSantis Sr. in June 1948, and they remained together until his passing in August 1999.
While living in Roxbury, Emma worked nights at B.F. Goodrich in Watertown as a stitcher for 20 years. In 1972, she moved to Melrose, where she began a new career as a head chef and cook. She became well known for her cooking, especially her famous chicken cutlets and meatballs, which were loved by her family and friends. Emma will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and neighbors, who fondly remember her sitting on the stoop and engaging in delightful conversations with everyone around her. Mom, it’s so hard to say goodbye. I know I would do it all over again, with no regrets, as I hold tightly to all of our memories. Spread your wings, Mom. Dad and your family are waiting to greet you. You will always be loved. Until we meet again.
Funeral services will be private.
