Emma R. Doll, 87, passed away at Wingate Nursing Home in Reading on Friday, January 11, 2008. Emma was born in Medford, Massachusetts and graduated from Medford High School. She spent most of her life living in Medford and Melrose, and eighteen years in Lake Mary, Florida, returning to Wakefield, Massachusetts in 1995. Emma worked for Estee Lauder Cosmetics at Bonwit Teller Department Store in Boston for 25 years. She enjoyed working, traveling and spending time with her many nieces and nephews. Emma had a bright and friendly personality that would light up a room, and she was a loving caretaker to her sisters and friends in need. She was the beloved daughter of the late Anthony and Alice (McCullough) Doll, and devoted sister of the late Helen Holmes, Henry Doll, and Alice Merenda. Emma was the cherished aunt of Christine Dovidio of Lynnfield, Mary Kane of Manchester-by-the-Sea, Carol (Merenda) VanTyne of Burlington, Del and Debbie Merenda of West Hartford, CT, Arthur and Jean Doll of West Hartford, CT, Henry and Pat Holmes of Mashpee, and many great nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Wednesday morning, January 16th, from 9:00-11:00 AM followed by a funeral Mass in the Church of the Incarnation, 425 Upham St. Melrose, at 11:30 AM. Relatives and friends are invited. The burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
