Eric Mansfield passed away at the Sawtelle Family Hospice House in Reading on Monday, August 30, 2010 at the age of 86. Eric was born in Newfoundland on July 24, 1924 to the late Luther & Bennett (Pynn) Mansfield. He was raised in Newfoundland, attended schools in Canada and came to the United States in 1948. He lived in Malden for many years and Melrose for over 20 years. Eric worked for ID Machine Company in Malden for 10 years, Boston Woven Hose Company in Cambridge for 10 years and for Pirro Pillow Company in Somerville for several years. Mr. Mansfield enjoyed fishing, carpentry, woodworking and trips to New Hampshire. Loving husband for 58 years to Doris L. (Hollett) Mansfield. Devoted father of the late Barbara Mansfield and the late Judith Charbonneau & her husband George. Grandfather of Kiel Abbott of Tewksbury. Uncle of Florence Jodin, Dorothy Tully, Jimmy Moore & Anna Klinger. Also survived by several other nieces, nephews, family members & friends. A funeral service will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Thurs. Sept. 2nd at 7:00PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visitation before the funeral on Thursday from 5:00-7:00PM. Interment in Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett.
