Felice P. "Phil" Ranieri passed away at his home in Stoneham, on Tuesday, December 2, 2008. He was 82 years of age. Mr. Ranieri was born in Malden, raised in Cambridge and graduated from Ringe Tech High School in Cambridge. He lived most of his life in Cambridge and the past two years in Stoneham. Phil was a WWII Navy Veteran as well as serving in the National Guard during the Korean War. Mr. Ranieri was a master plumber starting his own business, F. P. Ranieri Plumbing & Heating in Cambridge, which he ran for 30 years. Then he helped start a real estate and insurance company called Ranieri & Krey in Cambridge where he worked for another 20 years. Phil enjoyed hunting for 60 years at his camp in Hampden Hills, Maine, was an avid reader, enjoyed crossword puzzles and playing cards. He was a former member of the American Legion in Cambridge and the Cambridge Elks. But most of all, he was a devoted family man who enjoyed the sound of his grandchildren running around his home. Mr. Ranieri was the beloved husband of Claire L. (Elliott) Ranieri. Loving father of Karen E. Tarmey & her husband Michael of Melrose, Philip P. Ranieri of Stoneham, Timothy J. Ranieri & his wife Karen of Danvers and the late Diana M. Ranieri. Devoted grandfather of Cara & Sofia Tarmey and Isabella & Pio Ranieri. Brother of Stella Kelly of Cambridge & Lydia Carkhuff of Ohio. Also survived by several nieces & nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Friday, Dec. 5th at 9:30AM. Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, Herbert St. Melrose, at 10:30AM. Relatives & friends invited. Visiting hours Thursday 4-8PM. Interment in Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
