In Loving Memory of Fernando “Fred” DeSantis

Fernando “Fred” DeSantis passed away surrounded by the love of his family. Born in Pettorano Sul Gizio, Abruzzo, Italy, Fred emigrated to the United States in 1960 as a child. Like so many immigrants of his generation, he built a life through hard work, determination, and an unwavering devotion to his family.

Fred shared 51 loving years of marriage with his beloved wife, Josephine. He was a proud father to Fernando Jr. and Massimo, and cherished Fernando’s beloved partner, Lina, and his daughter-in-law, Sara.

He was a devoted grandfather to his treasured grandchildren, Massimo and Annina, who brought him endless joy and are the loves of his life.

Fred had a lifelong passion for sports, especially football, and was a loyal Oakland Raiders fan. He also loved making and sharing pizza, bringing family and friends together around the table with food, laughter, and love.

He is also survived by his brother, Pasquale, and Pasquale’s wife, Tamara. He was predeceased by his sister, Anna.

Fred will be remembered for his kindness, strength, work ethic, and above all, his deep love for his family. His legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

He will be dearly missed and forever remembered. Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026 from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster Street, Melrose. A Funeral Service will begin at 12:00 PM at the Gately Funeral Home. Interment will be private. Family & Friend's respectfully invited to attend.
