IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Florence L.
Shea
June 15, 1945 – July 4, 2024
Florence Shea made the world a kinder and brighter place. We have lost a truly
generous and caring individual.
Florence Louise Shea was born June 15, 1945, in Washington DC to Ethel and George
Shea. Florence grew up in Maryland, New York, New Jersey and Bedford, Massachusetts.
She graduated from Bedford High School and Chamberlayne Junior College. She was a resident
of Melrose, Massachusetts for over fifty years. Florence worked for the Bank of America for over
forty years.
She enjoyed gardening, reading and volunteering. But the highlight of her life was her spirited
and adventurous visits to her absolutely beloved nephews, Lars and Eric and to her great niece,
Avalon. She traveled to California, Colorado, Alaska, and the state of Washington to have the
most merry and fun times with them.
Upon retirement she was a dedicated and enthusiastic Melrose community volunteer. She
volunteered at the Milano Family Senior Center, the Melrose Mirror, A Servant's Heart Food Pantry,
and as an Election Day Poll Worker. She was very devoted to St Mary of the Annunciation Church.
She was a Eucharistic Minister and a member of the Hospitality committee and of the Ladies' Sodality.
Florence is survived by her big sister, Elizabeth [Pete] Berg; nephews Lars Berg and Eric Berg; great
niece Avalon Berg; and her brother, George Shea.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at 10 am at St Mary of the Annunciation Church, 4 Herbert St., Melrose. Relatives & friends respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home prior to the mass from 8:30AM-9:30AM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St Mary of the Annunciation Church, 46 Myrtle St., Melrose or to the Milano Family Senior Center, 201 W. Foster St., Melrose in her memory.
May her warmth, generosity and kindness continue to inspire us.
