Frances Ann (Conlin) DeCoste, a homemaker, passed away at the Bear Hill Nursing Center in Stoneham on June 19, 2014. She was 90 years of age. Frances was born in Boston on June 16, 1924 to the late Walter & Marion (Donohue) Conlin. She was raised in Hyde Park and graduated from Girls High School in Boston, Class of 1941. Mrs. DeCoste moved to Melrose in 1945 and has been a resident ever since. Her first job was at Clements Clothing Store in Melrose, during WWII she worked for the USO and then went on to work for a few years at John Hancock Insurance Company as a clerk and at Prudential Insurance as a training coordinator. She was a hard worker who was dedicated to raising her family, was a wonderful wife and was very close to her mother. Frances had a quiet and comforting personality and a great smile. Mrs. DeCoste was a longtime member of St. Mary's Church, served on the personal board for the City of Melrose and loved animals, especially dogs. Frances was the beloved wife of 33 years to the late Albert DeCoste, was a loving mother to her son Kevin DeCoste of Vermont and her daughters; Joan K. Paiva & her husband Thomas of Melrose and Janice D. Lamb & her husband Jeffrey of North Reading. Visitation will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Saturday morning June 21st from 8:30-9:30AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Church, Herbert St. Melrose at 10AM. Relatives & friends are respectfully invited to attend. Interment will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery in Stoneham.
