Frances M. "Millie" (Kelley) Wadland, a longtime resident of Melrose, passed away at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill, surrounded by her family. Born on May 14, 1925 in Revere, she was the daughter of the late John & Martha (Lavigne) Kelley Millie was raised in Revere, graduated from Revere High School, moved to Stoneham and then Melrose for the past 48 years. Her family was her pride and joy and she was always very involved in all her children and grandchildren's activities. Mrs. Wadland ran the gift shop at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital for many years. She was a member of Bellevue Golf Club in Melrose and Bear Lake Country Club in West Palm Beach, Florida, where she spent her winters for several years. Millie was gifted in knitting, crocheting and other hand work and made many beautiful afghans and sweaters for all her loved ones that will be cherished. She loved playing bridge and was involved at the Melrose Senior Center and the Women's Club in Melrose. Mrs. Wadland was the devoted wife of the late Charles P. Wadland. Loving mother of Charles P. "Chip" Wadland Jr. & his wife Virginia of Reading, Marcy Gonnam Hubbard & her husband Marc of Haverhill and Kathy Olsen & her husband Bill of Reading. Cherished grandmother of Michelle (Gonnam) McNamara & Jill (Gonnam) DiGiorgio, Billy, Chris Olsen and Katie (Olsen) Saucier and Jason & Jen Wadland. Great grandmother of Bryce, Oliver, Joley, Luke, Callie, Landen, Kaden, Cameron, Kyla, Grace, Presley and Tyler. Sister of the late Gordon, Donald, William, Frederick & her twin Arthur Kelley. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, family members & friends. A funeral service will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Friday March 9th at 1PM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Thursday from 4:00-8:00PM. Interment in Puritan Lawn Cemetery in Peabody.
