Francis H. McCarthy, age 71, passed away at home with family after a long battle with a Bone Marrow disease on Friday November 1, 2013. Fran was born in Malden on September 21, 1942, son of the late Hilma (Clows) McCarthy Enos and the late Francis H McCarthy SR., stepson of late Joseph C. Enos. He was raised in Malden, a graduate of Malden High School, Class of 1960, he held a Masters degree in Business Administration. Fran was a licensed Nursing Home administrator and a Notary Public. He worked at Balcom Electric in Malden for 2l years as a business office manager as well as the Medford Housing Authority, Courtyard Nursing Center in Medford and retired from Maplewood Place in Malden. Fran loved spending time with his grandchildren and spending summers in Alton Bay NH. Fran was born in Malden but lived most of his married life in Melrose. He and wife Lillian just celebrated 50 years of marriage. Beloved husband of Lillian (Boulger) McCarthy. Devoted father of Scott R. McCarthy & his wife Anne (Fennelly) of Melrose, Lisa McCarthy of Stoneham and Dana McCarthy & his wife Heather (Evans) of Melrose. Loving brother of Judith (Enos) Macero & her husband Michael of Chelsea. Devoted and proud grandfather of Devin, Justin and Tyler McCarthy of Melrose, Andrew, Krystal, and Katelyn Evans of Melrose. Proud great grandfather of Mason & Nathan Ash of Melrose. Brother-in- law of the late Arlene (Boulger) and her husband Paul Breen, the late Arthur Boulger and Daniel Boulger and wife Concetta. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on THursday, November 7th at 9AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Church, Herbert St. Melrose, at 10AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Wednesday from 4-8PM. Interment at Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose.
