Frank Burke died at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital Aug. 11th at the age of 56. Frank was born in Charlestown, raised in Charlestown and Stoneham and graduated from Stoneham High School Class of 1964. Frank lived in Stoneham for many years and the past 10yrs in Melrose. He worked for the Boston Herald as a warehouse supervisor for the past 23yrs and was a member of the Teamsters Local 25. Frank was an avid golfer, coached girls youth basketball in Melrose for many years as well as girls softball for a few years. He was also a Vietnam Veteran serving in the US Army for 2 years. Frank was the husband of Susan (Carroll) Burke. Father of Jessica M. Downey of Roslindale, Margaret E. Auchterlonie of Natick and Danielle T. Burke of Melrose. Brother of Patricia Burke of Saugus, Judith Burke of Wakefield, Michael Burke of Mashpee, Susan Mele of Metheun, Paul Burke of Wakefield and Mary Mason of Dracut. Grandfather of Lindsay & Jack Downey. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Friday Aug. 16th at 8AM. Funeral mass in St. Mary's Church Herbert St. Melrose at 9AM. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours Thurs. 4-9PM. Burial in Wyoming Cemetery Melrose. US Army Vietnam Veteran.
