Frank S. Plagenza passed away at the GRECC Unit at E.N. Rogers Memorial Veteran's Hospital in Bedford on October 28, 2015. He was 89 years of age. Frank was born in Omaha, Nebraska on June 16, 1926 and was raised in California. Frank joined the US Army and served his country with pride during WWII. A self-employed cabinet maker, Frank owned and operated Maverick Woodworking in East Boston for over 40 years, retiring in 1985. He lived in Wakefield for several years and has been a resident of Melrose for over 30 years. Frank and his wife Gena enjoyed taking Sunday rides and spending winters in Sun City Center, Florida for many years. He enjoyed working outside on his lawn and tending to his garden and loved spending time with his family. Frank was the beloved husband of 66 years to Gena R. (DiGianni) Plagenza. Devoted father of Vincent Plagenza & his wife Rosanne of CT, Rachel M. White of Falmouth, Robert J. Plagenza of Melrose and Judy Riess of Melrose. Loving grandfather of Andrew White, Amanda Riess, Laura Riess, Stephanie Plagenza, Jessica Riess, Kimberly Plagenza, Lindsay White & Emily Plagenza. Caring brother of Joseph Plagenza of CA and the late Vincent Plagenza & the late Margaret Spinardi. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Monday, November 2, 2015 from 9:30-11:00AM, followed by a funeral service at 11AM at the funeral home. Relatives & friends are respectfully invited to attend. Interment with military honors at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park will follow the service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Frank's name to a charity of your choice.
