Frank P. Spadafora passed away at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital on Thursday, November 3, 2011. He was 84 years of age. Frank was born and raised in Melrose, attended Melrose schools and lived in Melrose for 60 years. Mr. Spadafora lived in Vermont for 10 years and in Saugus the last 15 years. He served his country proudly in the United States Navy during WWII from 1943 to 1946. Frank worked in construction and masonry for several years, as a custodian for the Melrose School Department at Melrose High School and the Franklin School for over 10 years and as a greens keeper at Bellevue Golf Course for 1 year. He was a longtime member of the Melrose Elks. Frank was the brother of Cynthia McQueen & her husband Don of Saugus and the late Olga Emanuel, Lena DiNardi, Florence Ricker, Dante, Joseph, Henry and Alphonso Spadafora. Uncle of Jackie Emanuel, Geri & Helge Wensing, Robin & Brian Lynch, Robert & Kate McQueen and Randy & Terri McQueen. Also survived by numerous other nieces, nephews and grand nieces & nephews. Visiting hours will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Tuesday, Nov. 8th from 11:00am to 1:00pm. Followed by a funeral service in the funeral home at 1PM. Relatives & friends are invited to attend. Interment in Wyoming Cemetery at a later date. WWII Navy Veteran.
