Frank J. Tambini passed away at his home in Melrose, on February 22, 2022. He was 89 years of age. Frank was born in Somerville on January 15, 1933 to the late Frank & Mabelle (Benway) Tambini. Frank was raised in West Peabody, graduated from Peabody High School and has been a resident of Melrose for the last 62 years. He served his country with pride in the US Navy during the Korean War from 1952-1956.
Mr. Tambini worked as an engineering assistant at the Massachusetts Institute for Technology (MIT) for 30 years. Frank was a very athletic person, was an excellent skater, enjoyed golfing and was an avid tennis player. He was a member of St. Mary's Church in Melrose, the Woburn/Stoneham Elks and the Wakefield Retired Men's Club. Mr. Tambini was a talented artist and woodcarver who had one of his woodcarvings (the Lion and the Lamb) hang in the State House for 2 years. Frank loved bird watching and was an excellent dancer who loved to go ballroom dancing with his wife Marion.
He was the beloved husband of 64 years to Marion B. (Gentile) Tambini. Loving father of Dianne Tambini, Marie Rudzinsky, Julie Maimaron, Steve Tambini and Lisa Hascher. Caring brother of the late William Tambini. Proud grandfather of 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
