Obituary

Frank S. Tuscano passed away at his home in Melrose on July 1, 2015. He was 91 years of age. Frank was born in Gary, West Virginia on December 8, 1923 to the late Domenic & Mary (DiBiasi) Toscano. He was raised in Pennsylvania and came to the North End of Boston at the age of 15. Mr. Tuscano entered the service right out of high school and served his country with pride in the US Navy during WWII. Frank served on a submarine in the Pacific Theater for 3 years. After his discharge he worked for Emerson Lounge Furniture in Lawrence before starting his own business in 1974. He owned and operated Frank's Furniture in Melrose from 1974 to 2011. Mr. Tuscano has been a resident of Melrose for over 65 years and spent summers at his camp in Fremont, NH for the last 60 years where he enjoyed canoeing with his late wife Marie and spending time with his family. Frank enjoyed bowling, cooking, Wednesday night dinners and holding court at his store with all his friends. But most of all the grandchildren and great grandchildren were the love of his life. Mr. Tuscano was the beloved husband of the late Marie Josephine (Scola) Tuscano. Devoted father of Donna M. Tuscano-Quinlan & her husband James of Medford, Michael Tuscano & his wife Judy of North Hampton, NH, John Tuscano & his wife Pattie of Stoneham, Francis Tuscano & his wife Stephanie of Gilford, NH and Paul Tuscano & his wife Jan of Hamilton. Brother of Kay Toscano and Rose Toscano both of Somerville, pre-deceased by sister Louise (Toscano) Liotine, and brothers Anthony Toscano and Nuncio "Bill" Tuscano. Also survived by 11 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Sunday, July 5th from 3:00-7:00PM. Funeral from Gately Funeral Home on Monday July 6th at 9AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Church, Herbert St. Melrose at 10:00AM. Relatives & friends are respectfully invited to attend. Interment will be private. Memorial contributions may be made in Frank's name to Melrose Veteran's Relief Fund, c/o City of Melrose, attn: Veterans Office, 562 Main St. Melrose, MA 02176. WWII US Navy Veteran.
