Frederick G. Capodilupo of Malden, died at the Woburn Nursing Center on March 11, 2014 at the age of 89. Fred was born & raised in Revere and attended Revere High School. He worked in the warehouse for Sears for over 20 years and also as a School Crossing Guard for the City of Malden for over 30 years before his retirement in 2011. He also served with the Metropolitan Secret Service Bureau and Auxiliary Middlesex Sheriff's Department for many years. He was a member and past President for the 280 Club in Malden and received several commendations from 2 Governors of Massachusetts for his role in helping the elderly in Malden. Fred was a professional musician, playing Tenor Sax, Alto Sax and Flute in the "Big Bands" of the 1940's with Louis Prima, Harry James and Tommy Dorsey traveling throughout the United States. While playing, he got to meet personally many celebrities and performers, some of whom he would vacation with at their homes such as Desi & Lucy Arnez, Harry James, Betty Grable, Xavier Cougat, Benny Goodman, Frank Sinatra and Rita Hayworth. He was a natural & gifted musician having no formal training & could pick up an instrument and play. Fred had big heart and was a kind & gentle man and would help anyone that was in need. He loved to travel to New York City, Bermuda, Florida, Jamaica, Canada and Cape Neddick, ME. He was the loving father of Giustino Capodilupo of Ct. Cherished grandfather of Francesca & Gianna Capodilupo of Ct. Longtime partner of Josephine Morley of Malden and her children Bruce Morley & Anita White & her husband Fred, all of Melrose. Caring brother of Justin Capodilupo & his wife Marie of Revere and the late Linda Capodilupo, Mary Foti and Carmela "Dolly" DiRico. Also survived by several nieces, nephews, and grandnieces & grandnephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Friday, March 14th at 7:45AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Anthony's Church, 250 Revere St., Revere at 9AM. Relatives & friends respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours on Thursday from 4-7PM. Burial in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.
