Obituary

Frederick "Fred" Otto Wagner, (88) of Melrose, MA passed away peacefully on July 18, 2023 with his family at his side.

Fred was born in Buffalo, NY on August 8, 1934 to Otto and Helen Wagner. He had a special place in his heart for his hometown.

Fred graduated from Westminster College in New Wilmington, PA. He was captain of the swim team and continued to swim competitively while serving in the US Army in Augsburg, Germany.

As an avid golfer, Fred was a member and club president of both Coldstream Country Club in Cincinnati, OH and Lakeside Country Club in Burbank,CA.

Never one to be shy, Fred was often the life of the party. Very few could compete with him as a master storyteller. "Never let the truth get in the way of a good story " he would say.

Family and friends will always remember Fred leading them in prayers during a holiday gathering or at any given meal.

Fred was a successful business executive. He worked for many companies throughout the years and finally retired at age 84 from Raypak Inc. of Oxnard, CA.

Fred is survived by his loving wife Lis Wagner of 37 years, son Rick Wagner and wife Mary of Cincinnati, OH, his daughters Kelly Oldham and husband Tom of Portage, MI, and Candice Mangan and husband Sean of Medford, MA. He was proud grandfather to Katie DeNooyer and husband Ryan, Jenny Osbeck and husband Kenny, and Carsten Mangan. Fred adored his four great grandchildren, Nick, Teddy, Joey and Emma Kate. He will be greatly missed by his sister in law Ann Carlson, niece Tristina Lawler and husband Matt, grandnephews Charlie and Patrick and grandniece Penelope, and nephew JonLars Carlson and wife Sam. Fred is also survived by many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.

Fred was pre-deceased by his former wife Bettie Rehfeldt, his sister Gloria Jameson, his mother in law Ida Strauch, and his brother in law Craig Carlson.

Fred will be laid to rest at White Chapel Memorial Park in Buffalo, NY next to his mother and father.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to "Visiting Nurse and Community Care" in Arlington, MA.

Fred's memorial service will be private.
