Gail T. (Lennon) Lucien, of Brooksby Village, formerly of Melrose, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2026, at home surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with breast cancer. She was 87.
Born on October 29, 1938, Gail grew up in Revere and later made her home in Melrose, where she raised her family. Family was the center of Gail’s life and the source of her deepest joy and purpose.
She was the beloved wife of the late Robert “Bob” Lucien. Gail was the devoted mother of Bridget Rosatone and her husband Elio, Maura Desmarais and her husband Greg, Peter Lucien and his late wife Beth, and Kara Elmer and her husband Robert.
She was the loving and proud grandmother of Isabella, Emma, Ethan, Joseph, Grace, Patrick, Zachary, Luke, and Emily. Nothing brought Gail more happiness than watching her children, and later her grandchildren, play sports, perform, and grow into the remarkable adults they became. She took enormous pride in each of them.
Gail had a long and fulfilling career at Tufts University, where she worked for 16 years and retired as Associate Director of Alumni Relations. She truly loved her work and the many friendships she built there.
In recent years, Gail became a cherished member of the community at Brooksby Village. She was an active volunteer in the library, served as a hall liaison, and was known for her warm, social spirit. She especially enjoyed playing Rummikub and following the Indiana Fever with friends. She formed meaningful friendships that brought her companionship, laughter, joy and comfort, especially in her later years.
Gail found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. She loved gardening, was an avid reader, and treasured time spent with family above all else.
She will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, quiet strength, and unwavering devotion to the people she loved. Her family was her greatest accomplishment, and her love will remain with them always.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Chapel at Brooksby 300 Brooksby Village Drive, Peabody, MA on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at 12:00pm. Relatives & friends respectfully invited to attend. Interment will be private.
Flowers can be sent to Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St., Melrose, MA 02176. Donations can be made to Breast Friends, (2026-breast-friends-walk) an organization dear to her heart.
