George H. Barrett, of Melrose passed away at the Cambridge Health Alliance Everett Hospital on January 30, 2022 at the age of 84. George was born in Boston, raised in Malden and resided in Melrose for the past 22 years. He worked at the Whidden Hospital for many years, was a Navy Veteran and grandson of a Civil War hero John Harrison Barrett. George was the lifetime companion of Elaine DeHart of Melrose. Loving son of the late George L. & Doris (Hudson) Barrett. Second father of Kristal Anderson & her husband Eric of NH and Todd DeHart of FL. Stepbrother of Bernice McLennan of Melrose and the late Barbara Kilbride, Ralph, Roger, Walter and Edward Worth. George's extended family includes Lucille Pannozzo & her late husband Dominic of Billerica, Thomas Cultrera of FL, Roseanne DeLage & her husband John of FL, Peter Damian of MT, Regina Doyle & her husband Kevin of Douglas, Douglas DeHart & his wife Nancy of FL, Dennis Barrett & his wife Michele of Malden. Elaine's grandchildren Kristina, Kelly, Katelin, Kerry, Daniel, Matthew and Raelene. Elaine's nieces & nephews Jonathan, Brianna, Bryan, Noah, Jared, Tobin and Robin. Also survived by relatives & many friends. Visiting hours will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Friday, February 4, 2022 from 9-11AM, followed by a Funeral Service at 11AM. Relatives & friends respectfully invited to attend. Interment in Puritan Lawn Cemetery, Peabody.
