George F. Cronin passed away at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital on Dec. 24th, he was 66. George was born and raised in Melrose, attended Melrose High School and was a lifelong resident. He started working at Deering Lumber & Supply Company of Melrose in 1956 and has been the owner of the company for the past 5 years. George was a longtime member of St. Marys Church, was an usher at the 4 oclock Mass for many years, was an associate member of the VFW Harold OYoung Post #2394 in Melrose and volunteered for many years at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital. He was the beloved husband of the late Lorelei F. (Pecci) Cronin. Former husband of Mary Lee Smith. Devoted and loving father of S. Michael Cronin & his fiance Rita of PA, Catherine M., Timothy F. & Daniel J. Cronin Cronin all of Melrose, Dennis J. Cronin & his wife Michelle of Wareham, Mary Elizabeth Nave & her husband Michael of FL and Joseph P. Cronin and his wife Christine of Melrose. Loving grandfather to Joseph & John Guzzo, Valerie, Sean, Chris, Tyler, Morgan, Sarah, RyLee & Michaela Cronin, Michael & Madalyn Nave. Dear brother of Gerald Cronin & his wife Ellen and John Cronin & his wife Sandra all of Melrose. Also survived by his dear friend and companion Mary Rosati and many nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Tues. Dec. 28th, at 8AM. Funeral mass in St. Marys Church, Herbert St. Melrose, at 9AM. Relatives and friends invited.
