Obituary

George T. & Grampy Duffy, of Melrose, died at the Exeter Hospital in Exeter, NH on Aug. 30, 2011 at the age of 81. George was born & raised in Malden and a graduate of Malden Catholic High School and Tufts University in Medford. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and resided in Melrose since 1968. George worked as a Manager for General Motors in Boston for 35 years before retiring at the age of 63. He was the beloved husband of the late Janice (Margeson) Duffy for 26 years. Loving father of Judith Gordon & her husband Marc of Newton, William Duffy & his wife Linda of Everett, Janice Duffy of Boxford, Barbara Duffy of Melrose and Kevin Duffy of New York. Cherished Grampy of John, Diane, Nicholas, Emily, Lindsay, Amelia, Lucas and Elena. Caring great grandfather of Aaron, Kaylin, Joshua, Patrick and David. Devoted brother of John Duffy of CT, Richard Duffy of Arlington and the late Barbara Duffy, Marguerite Crawford and Ruth Duffy. Also survived by many nieces & nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Friday Sept. 2nd at 9AM. Funeral Mass in Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St., Wakefield at 10AM. Relatives & friends invited. Visiting hours on Thursday from 4-8PM. Burial in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. In lieu of flowers, contribution may be made to the Parkinsons Association 720 Harrison Ave., Boston, MA 02118.
