George P. Grinis, of Melrose, died at the West Roxbury VA Hospital in Boston on Nov. 11, 2013 at the age of 79. George was born & raised in Athens, Greece and came to America in 1951. He resided in Medford until 2001 and the past 12 years in Melrose. George worked as a Bartender for over 40 years at several Boston nightclubs. He loved plants & gardening and was famous for his tomatoes, cucumbers and his garden. George enjoyed taking walks through the Fells Woods and was an "outstanding gentlemen" and always kind to everyone. He was not one to impose on anyone and was delighted to spend his time with children. George was the loving son of the late Panayiotis & Loula Grinis. Dear friend of Roseanne Greene of Melrose. Devoted cousin of Pearl Janis of Medford. Also survived by many friends & relatives here and in Greece. A Funeral Service will be held at the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Friday, Nov. 15th at 10AM. Relatives & friends respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours on Thursday from 3-6PM. Burial in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.
