George T. Hodgson Jr. died at home Dec.1st after a long illness at the age of 80. He was born in Chelsea, raised in Revere, graduated from Immaculate Conception Grammar & High School in Revere and from Northeastern University in Boston. George has been living in Melrose for the past 53 years and was an Auxillary Policeman for the City of Melrose for 25yrs. George worked as a chemical engineer at Arthur D. Little for 15 years and then for Comerics in Woburn for over 20 years as Vice President for Research & Development retiring in 1990. He served in the US Army during WWII, was a member of the VFW Harold O' Young Post #2394 in Melrose and was a life member of the Danvers Fish & Game Club. George was the husband of Frances G. (Tosney) Hodgson. Father of Kathleen Cheney of NH, Eileen Zaino of Melrose, Ken Hodgson of Reading, Joanne Peavey of Malden, Michael Hodgson of ME, Joseph Hodgson of NH, Patricia Silva of FL, Robert Hodgson of Melrose and the late George T. 'Biff' Hodgson III. Also survived by 18 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Wed. Dec. 4th at 8AM. Funeral mass in St. Mary's Church Herbert St. Melrose at 9AM. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours Tues. 4-9PM. Burial in Puritan Lawn Cemetery in Peabody.
