George J. Stodolnic passed away at the Life Care Center in Stoneham, on February 18, 2011. He was 74 years of age. George was born in Somerville on April 5, 1936 to the late Adam & Margaret (Davis) Stodolnic. He was raised in Somerville, graduated from St. Joseph's Grammar School and Somerville High School. Mr. Stodolnic spent 10 years serving in the US National Guard and has been a resident of Melrose since 1965. George worked as a letter carrier in Cambridge for over 35 years and after his retirement he worked for the Harvard University mail service for another 10 years. He loved his dogs Roxie & Elvis, was a Boston sports fan, enjoyed the beach and working outdoors around his home. Mr. Stodolnic was the beloved husband of the late Ann P. (Ratterman) Stodolnic. Devoted father of George J. Stodolnic & his wife Alison of London, England, Kristy Fedele of Windham, NH and Matthew G. Stodolnic & his wife Corey of San Francisco, CA. Loving grandfather of Lauren, Ben, Larkin, Rowe & Sage Stodolnic. Also survived by several nieces & nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Wednesday, February 23rd at 8AM. A Funeral Mass in celebration of George's life will be held at St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St. Stoneham, at 9am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Tuesday from 4:00-8:00PM. Interment in Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose.
