Gerald C. J. Cook passed away at Massachusetts General Hospital, on Saturday, January 16, 2010. He was 70 years of age. Mr. Cook was born in Boston, raised in Melrose and has been a lifelong resident of Melrose. Jerry was a graduate of Boston College Class of 1966 and Suffolk Law School Class of 1969. He practiced law in Melrose for numerous years, was an avid golfer and was a longtime member of Bellevue Golf Club. He served on the Melrose Housing Authority for several years and was very active in both Saint Mary's School in Melrose and Bishop Fenwick High School in Peabody when his daughters were in attendance. Jerry spent summers in West Harwich for the past 33 years and loved his trips to Disney World and Ireland. Beloved husband of 40 years to Eileen (Dolaher) of Melrose. Loving father of Elizabeth Byrne and her husband Jim of Long Island, New York, Sarah Vanica and her husband Jon of Hong Kong and Jessica Cook of NY, NY. Cherished grandfather of Jack, Madeline, William and Eileen. Brother of Marjorie Cook of East Harwich, Richard Cook of Melrose, Robert Cook of Melrose, Bryan Cook of Saugus and the late James Cook. His funeral will be held from Gately Funeral Home, 79 West Foster Street, Melrose, on Thursday at 9 AM. Followed by a Funeral Mass at Saint Mary's Church, Herbert Street Melrose, at 10 o'clock. Relatives and friends may call at the Funeral Home Wednesday from 4-8 PM. Interment in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.
