Gerald B. Long died at South Shore Hospital July 15th at the age of 70. He was born and raised in Melrose, graduated from Melrose High School, he served in the US Navy for 4 yrs during the Korean War and then went back to school and graduated from New England College. Gerald worked a supervisor and director of social workers for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for 33yrs. He lived in Boston for a few years and Hanover the past 29yrs. He was the husband of Sandra (Antins) Long. Father of Gregory Long & his wife Laura of Norfolk and Andrea Psmithe & her husband Kevin of Alexandria VA. Brother of Thomas Long, Brian Long both of FL, Katherine Long of Stoneham and the late Eleanor Senier and John Long. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Thurs. July 19th at 8 AM. Funeral mass in St. Mary's Church Herbert St. Melrose at 9 AM. Relatives and friends invited. Visitng hours Wed. 5-8 PM. Burial in Wyoming Cemetery Melrose.
