Gerald E. Jerry Roberts, of Warwick, RI, formerly of Wakefield, died at the Providence Hospital in RI on Oct. 25th at the age of 70. Jerry was born in Boston, raised in Melrose and was a graduate of Melrose High School, Class of 1954. He lived in Wakefield for 21 years and was a Melrose Police Officer during the 1960s. Jerry worked as Computer Operations for State Street Bank in both Boston & Quincy for over 41 years. He was a life member of the Melrose Elks Club and Past President of the Crystal Community Club (3CS) in Wakefield. He was the loving father of Susan L. LaGanke & her husband Bob of Gilbert, AZ, Lynne M. Russell & her husband George of Warwick, RI and Glen E. Roberts & his wife Michelle of Chandler, AZ. Cherished grandfather of Connor, Lindsay, Tyler, Collin and Lana. Devoted son of the late Thomas & Margaret (Carroll) Roberts. Caring brother of Thomas W. Roberts Jr. of FL, Karen Roberts, Mary Kelley, both of Melrose, Margaret Gover of Malden and the late Charles & Claire Roberts. Former husband of Jean M. (Lombard) Roberts. Also survived by many nieces & nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Monday Oct. 30th at 8AM. Funeral Mass in St. Marys Church, Herbert St., Melrose at 9AM. Relatives & friends invited. Visiting hours on Sunday from 2-6PM. Burial in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
