Geraldine T. "Gerry" (Lynch) Gillcrist passed away at the Golden Living Center Dexter House in Malden, on January 19, 2015. She was 87 years of age. Mrs. Gillcrist was born in Melrose on April 8, 1927 to the late Cornelius & Amelia Frances (Mansfield) Lynch. She was raised in Melrose, graduated from St. Mary's Grammar and St. Mary's High School, Class of 1945. Gerry was a lifelong resident of Melrose and worked as a seamstress for over 15 years at Moulton's Curtain Factory on Corey Street in Melrose. Mrs. Gillcrist loved to sing and dance, had a great sense of humor and enjoyed spending summers on White Horse Beach in Plymouth. Gerry was very close with all her sisters and adored her grandchildren. Geraldine was the beloved wife of the late Robert N. Gillcrist. Loving mother of Robert A. Gillcrist & his wife Sheila of Woodsville, NH, Susan Gillcrist of Plymouth and William E. Gillcrist of Saugus. Devoted sister of Rita DeCoste of Melrose and the late Mary Mahoney, Eileen McCarthy, Flossie Smith and Ed Lynch. Sister-in-law of Celeste Lynch of Melrose. Cherished grandmother of Sam, Mary, Roberta, Tony, Christopher, James, Nicholas, Elizabeth, Emily & Hilary. Loving great grandmother of Daryll, Austin, Morgan, Alex, Chrissy, Bobby, Patrick, Allison, Thomas, Sam, Ruth & Aleiah. Visiting hours will take place on Thursday, January 22nd from 4:00-8:00PM at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose. Followed by at Funeral Service on Friday, January 23rd at 11AM at Gately Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose. Relatives & friends are respectfully invited to attend.
