Germaine T. (Soulard) Sherman passed away at Woodbriar of Wilmington on May 28, 2012. She was 88 years of age. Germaine was born in Somersworth, NH on July 6, 1923 to the late Joseph Oscar & Anna Marie (Paquette) Soulard. She was raised in Malden and has been a resident of Melrose for over 50 years. Mrs. Sherman worked as a secretary at General Electric for 5 years, and then as a crossing guard for the Melrose Police Department for 5 years and then as a clerk for over 20 years at New England Telephone Company . Germaine enjoyed crocheting, walking, going to the beach, trips Sandwich on Cape Cod and was a Bruins season ticket holder for several years. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and hosting all the holidays at her house. Mrs. Sherman was a longtime member of St. Mary's Church, a member of St. Mary's choir and a member of the Ladies Sodality at church. She was the devoted wife of the late William F. Sherman. Loving mother of Anne M. Panneton & her husband Robert P. of Danvers, William J. Sherman of Melrose, Elaine T. Johnson & her husband Calvin of CA, Clare A. Coleman of N. Andover, Gregory P. Sherman & his wife Karen of FL, Joan L. Murphy & her husband Thomas of Reading & Robert F. "Bo" Sherman & his wife Kathleen of Saugus. Cherished grandmother of 16 & great grandmother of 9. Caring sister of Louise Hart of Stoneham, Helen Joyce of Wakefield & the late Oscar, Robert, Arthur and Paul Soulard & Corrine McDonald. Also survived by many nieces & nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Friday, June 1st, at 9AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Mary's Church Herbert St. Melrose at 10AM Relatives & friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Thursday from 4-8PM.
