Gertrude T. "Trudy" Carnes passed away at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington, on Thursday, January 26, 2012. She was 59 years of age. Trudy was born in Boston on June 11, 1952 to the late John & Gertrude (Gatt) Carnes. She was raised in Charlestown and Somerville and graduated from Somerville High School. Trudy lived in Melrose for 18 years and North Reading for the past 10 years. Miss Carnes worked as a deli manager for the First National Stores, Stop & Shop and Market Basket throughout her career. Trudy loved to go to the beach, enjoyed fishing & reading and loved her trips to the Bahamas and Aruba. She was the daughter of the late John & Gertrude (Gatt) Carnes. Sister of Marie H. McCarthy & her husband Michael of Derry, NH, William H. Carnes & his wife Anne of Melrose, Robert Carnes & his wife Lynne of Somerville and the late John, Edward & Joseph Carnes. Also survived by numerous, nieces, nephews, grand nieces & grand nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Monday, January 30th at 8AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Trudy at St. Patrick's Church, 71 Central St. Stoneham at 9AM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours Sunday from 1:00-5:00PM.
