Gertrude A. ''Trudy'' Lally, 79, died at home Sunday,unexpectedly. Born and raised in Melrose ,she was lifelong resident. She attended St Mary's Grammar School, graduated from Melrose High School in 1939 and Emmanuel College Class of 1943. Trudy was a School Teacher at the Horace Mann School in Melrose from 1967 until 1984. She was an active parishioner at St Mary's Church as a Eucharistic Minister, a member of the Ladies Sodality and the Catholic Women's Club. She was a member of the Massachusetts Reired School Teacher's Association. Trudy was the wife of the late Edward V. Lally. Devoted mother of Edward V. Lally, M.D. of Barrington RI, Susan M. Greener of Walpole, Marybeth Orr of Hingham and Patricia A. Tivnan of Amesbury. Loving grandmother of 14 grandchildren. Sister of Mary Sinnott of Melrose, Margaret Sullivan of Melrose, Eileen Mayhew of Chilmark, Francis Sullivan of Winchester,Charles Sullivan of Swampscott and the late Kathleen Flynn, John, Daniel, and James Sullivan. Caring aunt to many nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W Foster St, Melrose on Thursday June 28 at 8 AM. Funeral Mass in St Mary's Church, corner of Myrtle & Herbert Sts. Melrose at 9 AM. Relatives and friends invited Visiting hours Wednesday 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 pm. Burial will be in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.
