Gertrude I. (Garrity) Trusselle of Melrose, died Friday, October 16, 2009 at the Massachusetts General Hospital of Boston. She was 80 years old. Born on June 23, 1929 in Chelsea to the late William F. & Gertrude M. (Quinn) Garrity, she was raised in Chelsea and a graduate from St. Rose Grammar School. She then graduated from the Immaculate Conception School of Revere in 1947. Mrs. Trusselle was a resident of Melrose since 1959. She worked with New England Telephone of Boston for a few years and the Auditors office in Chelsea City Hall for awhile. Gertrude was a former CCD Teacher at the Incarnation Church of Melrose and one of its original parishioners. She enjoyed being at home, reading, her grandchildren, bird watching and Solitaire. She was the devoted wife of 58 years to Robert S. Trusselle, loving mother of Susan M. DeMatteo & her husband Nicholas of Reading, Joan M. Mueskes & her husband Edward of Methuen & James R. & Rachel Trusselle of S. Berwick, ME. Cherished grandmother of Robert & Lauren DeMatteo of Reading, Matthew Mueskes & his fiance Jessica Torres of Methuen, Brian Mueskes, also of Methuen, Megan Trusselle & James Levesque of S. Berwick, ME, Jessica Mills & her husband Shane of N. Berwick, ME. Caring sister of Rev. Francis D. Garrity Sr. Priest Retired of Salem & Virginia Grayson & her late husband Bernard, also of Salem. Sister-in-law of Frank Brackett & his late wife Shirley of Weymouth & Emily Trusselle & her late husband William of Stuart, FL. Also survived by many nieces, nephews & cousins. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Wednesday, October 21st at 9AM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the Church of the Incarnation 425 Upham St., Melrose at 10AM. Gertrude's brother Rev. Francis D. Garrity will officiate. Family & friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours Tuesday 4-8PM. Interment in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.
