Obituary

Giovanni Alberto Aquino of Melrose, passed away suddenly on June 10th, 2023, at the age of 51.

Giovanni was born on June 14th, 1971, in Guatemala City, Guatemala, the son of Jorge and Dominga (Aucar) Aquino. The Aquino family settled in Somerville, MA in 1980 where Giovanni was raised and educated in the Somerville School System before furthering his education at Northeastern University. Giovanni married the love of his life, Kerry, on July 12th, 1998, and moved to Melrose in 2002 where they raised their three sons. Giovanni worked at L3 Harris in Londonderry, NH as an Operations Manager.

Giovanni was passionate about coaching his children in any sport they chose to participate in. If he wasn't coaching them, he would be rooting them on from the sidelines. He was an avid baseball fan who enjoyed the sport so much, he became an umpire to make sure he always had a spot on the field. Gio loved working on home improvement projects, especially with his father. He could fix just about anything and was always right there to help anyone and everyone. He loved spending time with his family and going on hikes with his dog, Cooper.

Giovanni loved to travel. He and Kerry enjoyed trips to Europe, Florida, and many more places before becoming parents. They traveled to multiple states for their sons' sporting events and went on to share their love of Disney World with their children.

Giovanni is the beloved husband and best friend of Kerry (Kneavel) Aquino, with whom he shared almost 25 years of marriage and 37 years together. He is the devoted and loving father of his three sons Devin, Derek, and Jaiden, and his dog, Cooper. He is the beloved son of Jorge and Dominga (Aucar) Aquino. He is the beloved brother of Carlos Aquino and Karina Vargas. He is the beloved son-in-law of Catherine Trant and beloved nephew-in-law of Louise Trant. Giovanni is also survived by his loving nieces and nephew, grandniece and grandnephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws, and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a celebration of life Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 17th, 2023, at St. Mary of the Annunciation Church, 46 Myrtle Street, Melrose, MA.
