Giovanni "John" Pezzano, of Melrose, passed away at his home on December 8, 2023 at 77 years of age.

John, was a beloved husband, father, and pillar of his community. His life, filled with dedication, love, and an unwavering commitment to his family and work, leaves behind cherished memories that will forever resonate with those whose lives he touched.

Born in 1946 in Naples, Italy, John ventured to the United States in 1962, seeking new opportunities and a life enriched with hard work and aspirations. Settling in various communities across Massachusetts, including North End Boston, Somerville, Everett, and finally Melrose where he raised his two sons with his loving wife, Susan.

John's legacy as a dedicated machinist at Vacuum Industries stands as a testament to his strong work ethic and commitment. For many years, his skilled hands and unwavering dedication contributed significantly to the company's success. His dedication to his craft earned him respect and admiration among colleagues and friends.

An avid reader, John found solace and joy in the pages of the Boston Globe, keeping abreast of local and global events that shaped the world around him. Yet, his true passion lay in the simplicity of working with his hands, tending to his yard with care and precision. He was always ready to lend a helping hand to neighbors, epitomizing the true spirit of community.

John's love for life extended to his hobbies; he was quick to the dance floor and enjoyed a variety of music. He cherished family dinners, reveling in the laughter and love shared around the table. He was a passionate Patriots, Celtics, and Red Sox fan.

His granddaughter held a special place in his heart, and the love he had for her was immeasurable. Cooking for his family brought him immense joy, his meals a labor of love that nourished both body and soul. His loyal companion, Moose the dog, was a cherished member of the family, providing him with unconditional love and companionship.

John's departure leaves a void that cannot be filled, but his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. His love, kindness, and selflessness have left an indelible mark on the lives he touched.

He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Susan (Cobb) Pezzano of Melrose, MA, his loving sons Peter Pezzano and his wife Melissa of Wakefield, Ma; Dan Pezzano of Malden, MA; his brother Fank Pezzano and his wife Lucia of Stoneham, MA; his sister Nunzia Troutman and her husband Mark of Bend, OR, his sister Rita Acerra and her husband Giuseppe of Naples, Italy, and his sister Ersilia Barbato and her husband Paolo of Naples, Italy; his sister in law Deborah Lucey and her husband Robert of Billerica, MA; Maureen Arsenault of Melrose, MA; and brother in law Kevin Arsenault of NH; loved by many nieces, nephews, family and friends. Loved and cherished by his granddaughter Sienna. He was predeceased by his parents Pietro Antonio Pezzano of North End, Boston and Ilda (Nasti) Pezzano of Naples, Italy and man's best friend Moose.

Visiting hours will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Thursday, December 14, 2023, from 8:30AM-10:30AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Church, 4 Herbert St., Melrose at 11:00AM. Relatives & friends respectfully invited to attend. Interment in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Northeast Animal Shelter of Salem, MA in John's name, continuing his legacy of generosity and kindness.
