Gladys E. (Egan) Muse died at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston on November 2, 2020, she was 90 years of age. Gladys was born in Melrose on June 18, 1930 to the late Edward & Kathryn Egan. She was raised in Melrose, graduated from St. Mary's Grammar School and St. Mary's High School in 1948. Gladys was a licensed register nurse who graduated from the Carney School of Nursing in 1950. Mrs. Muse started out working at the Carney Hospital, Malden Hospital for a few years and then was an I.C.U. Nurse at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital for 20 years, retiring in 1991. After retirement, she and he late husband Herbert enjoyed spending winters in Florida in Clearwater and then in Fort Myers. Gladys loved going to all he children's sporting events and watch every Red Sox, Bruins and Patriots games. She was an avid reader and loved going to BINGO. But above all she cherished the times spent with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Gladys was the beloved wife of 50 years to the late Herbert G. Muse. Loving mother of Jack Muse & his wife Denise of Middleton, Bill Muse & his wife Patricia of Merrimac, Dan Muse & his wife Heather of Melrose, Patricia Deasy & her husband Francis of Quincy and Jim Muse & his wife Flicker of PA. Caring sister of the late Sister Catherine Egan H.C.J., Edward Egan & Harold Egan. Also survived by 13 grandchildren, 8 step grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives & friends. Visiting hours will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose, on Friday, November 6, 2020 from 8:30-10:30AM.Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Church, 9 Herbert St. Melrose, on Friday at 11:00AM. Burial in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
