Gordon L. Ging Francis, of Melrose, died at the Sawtell Family Hospice House in Reading on Dec. 27, 2005 at the age of 85. Ging was born in Nova Scotia, raised in Melrose and was a graduate of Melrose High School, Class of 1939. He was a lifelong resident of Melrose and worked as a Maintenance Mechanic for the DuPont Corp. for 29 years and Kyanize Paint, both in Everett for 12 years. Ging was an avid bowler who also enjoyed golf, fishing, tennis and trips on the Horizons Edge casino boat. He was the beloved husband of the late Catherine L. (Concannon) Francis. Loving father of G. Thomas Francis of Gloucester. Cherished grandfather of Renee M. Petersen & her husband William of Wakefield and Deborah L. McGuire & her husband Richard of N. Reading. Caring great grandfather of Richie, Nicholas and Ryan. Also survived by many nieces & nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Sat. Dec. 31st at 8AM. Funeral Mass in St. Marys Church, Herbert St., Melrose at 9AM. Relatives & friends invited. Visiting hours on Friday from 4-8PM. Burial in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.
