Gordon H. Hubbard, of Melrose passed away Sunday, August 12, 2007 at the age of 84. Born on September 8, 1922 in Canso, Nova Scotia to the late Clifton & Cora (Hurse) Hubbard, Gordon was raised in Nova Scotia and came to the United States in 1941. He worked as a merchant marine, a pumper on the oil ships with Exxon in Everett and a fisherman for over 30 years with Gem Fisheries & O'Hara Brothers Fisheries. He retired in 1976. He had been a Malden resident for 30 years and a Melrose resident since 1992. He enjoyed watching wrestling, being outdoors, eating, reading, children and being around people. Gordon was the devoted husband of 51 loving years to Shirley M. (Bowdridge) Hubbard. Shirley was also his caregiver throughout his years of declining health. He was the loving brother of Evan Mac Hubbard of E. Bridgewater & the late Sadie McComiskey, Lydia Peterson, Thomas, William, G. Irving, Fred & John Hubbard. Also survived by many caring nieces, nephews, great nieces & great nephews. Visiting hours will be held at the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Thurs. Aug. 16th from 10AM- 12PM. Relatives & friends invited. Graveside services will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett, MA.
