Grace M. (Velona) Monaco died after a long illness at Elmhurst Nursing Home in Melrose Nov. 19th at the age of 85. She was born and raised in East Boston and lived in East Boston for several years. Grace was the owner of Grace's Beauty Shoppe on Meridian St. in East Boston for many years before moving to Melrose in 1944. After moving to Melrose she worked at Sears as a sales clerk for over 20yrs. Grace enjoyed cooking, walking her dog on the beach,bowling and ballroom dancing at Wonderland in Revere. She was the wife of the late Nicholas Monaco. Mother of the late Robert Monaco and Ronald Monaco of Medford. Grandmother of Elaine Monaco of Swampscott, Janice Hoyt of Weymouth, Robert Monaco of Malden and Steven Monaco of Saugus. Also survived by 6 great grandchildren. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Friday Nov. 23rd at 10:30 AM. Funeral mass in The Church of the Incarnation 429 Upham St. Melrose at 11:00 AM. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours will be held prior to the funeral mass on Friday morning from 9:30-10:30 AM. Burial in Wyoming Cemetery Melrose.
