Hannah Lamb Praught, of Melrose, passed away at home on January, 15, 2013 at the age of 101. Beloved wife of the late Francis Praught. Loving mother of Madeline O'Malley of Mount Vernon,VA; Margaret Lynn of Eastham,Ma; Ronald Praught of Morris Plains, NJ. She is survived by five grand children,Christine, Elizabeth, John, Brenda, and Adam.
And preceded in death by Bobby Lynn of Eastham. She is also survived by eleven great grand children,
living in Spokane, WA, Portland ,Or, Chicago, Il, Fairfield ,CT And Chang-mi,Thailand. Caring aunt of Elsie Miles of Newfoundland.
Hannah was born July1911in a small village, Boxey, Newfoundland, Canada while it was still a Dominion of the British Empire. She came to the United States in 1937 after a long sea journey to Boston, including a ship collision on the Atlantic Ocean. She resided in Somerville, MA for a number of years before moving to Melrose in 1958. For 55 years she devoted all her energy to raising her family in the same home she passed in.
A celebration of Life will be held at the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Saturday Jan. 19th at 11:30AM. Relatives & friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours prior to the celebration from 11-11:30AM. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Hannah's name to the Milano Senior Center, 201 W. Foster St., Melrose, MA 02176.
