Harold N. Steeves passed away on Friday Jan 16th at the Epoch Senior Health Care Center in Melrose at the age of 82. He was born in Wakefield, raised in Melrose, lived most of his life in Melrose and several years in Everett, Malden & Medford. He worked as a truck driver for Palmer Mullen Co. of Malden for many years and as a shipper/receiver at Metropolitan Pipe & Supply in Cambridge, retiring in 1987. Harold was a WWII Army Veteran, a recipient of the bronze star, a life member of the VFW Post #2394 of Melrose, the Somerville DAV Post 85, the 88th Infantry Division Assoc., the Italian American Club of Malden, 200 Club in Melroses and the Malden Fraternity of Eagles. He was also a longtime member of the 1st Baptist Church in Melrose. Harold was the husband of the late Loretta (Chattle) Steeves, Irene (Abott) Steeves and Alma (Toomey) Steeves. Special friend of Jessie A. Freda. Father of Harold N. Steeves of VA, Richard P. Steeves of FL, James W. Steeves of VA and Marjorie Jackman of Saugus. Brother of Marion Cerretani of Wakefield and the late Audrey Steeves. Also survived by 4 grandsons, 2 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and a special nephew Robert Cerretani. Funeral services will be held at the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Tues. Jan. 21st at 11 AM. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours Monday 4-9PM.
