Harold L. "Bud" Swansburg of North Reading, died on Sunday, January 23, 2011 at his home in North Reading. He was 87 years old. Born in Somerville on August 6, 1923, a son to the late Harold L. Sr. & Doris (Ward) Swansburg, he was raised In South Medford and a 1940 graduate of Medford High School. Mr. Swansburg enlisted in the United States Navy and served our country proudly for 4 years as a Sonar man, Third Class during World War II. He worked as a Manager with the Beacon Pipe Fitting Company of Canton for 40 years and was a lifelong member of Local 537 Pipe Fitters Union. He was a resident of Melrose for many years and the past few years lived in North Reading. Bud was a life member of the V.F.W. of Melrose where he enjoyed playing pool. He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather & great grandfather. Harold was the devoted husband of the late Catherine E. "Kitty" (Sullivan) Swansburg with whom they shared 63 years of marriage. He was the loving father of John "Jack" Swansburg & his wife Sue of North Reading, Nancy Boyle & her husband Michael, also of North Reading, Lynne Swansburg of Tewksbury & Cindy Mullen & her husband John of Wilmington. Cherished grandfather of Denise Foote & her husband Doug of MN, Eric Swansburg & his fiance Laura LoCoco of Tewksbury, Kevin Swansburg of North Reading, Michael Boyle & his wife Natalie of CA, Daniel Boyle of Worcester, Thaddeus Kuznicki of Somerville, Andrew Kuznicki of Roslindale & Jimmy Mullen of Wilmington. Caring brother of Shirley Duggan & her husband Gene of FL. Cousin of Stephen Thompson & his wife Sally of CT. Great grandfather of 5. Funeral Service in the Gately Funeral Home 79 W.
