Hazel M. Lucey, 97, died at Bear Hill Nursing Center in Wakefield on Wednesday morning after a brief illness. She was born in Wakefield, raised in Wakefield and Reading and has been a Melrose resident for over 66 years. Hazel was a telephone operator at N.E. Telephone Company for 7 years and later worked at the Melrose High School Cafeteria for 20 years. Hazel was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Melrose, a member of the Grange Optimus Club at church and she was a member of the Ladies Auyxillary VFW Harold O' Young Post # 2394 in Melrose. Hazel was the wife of the late Daniel Patrick Lucey, Sr. Mother of Robert A. Lucey, Sr. of Melrose and the late Daniel Patrick Lucey Jr. Mother-in-law of Priscilla M. Lucey of Melrose and Shirley M. Lucey of FL. Grandmother of Daniel P Lucey, III and Disa, David S. Lucey Sr. and wife Karen, Robert A. Lucey Jr and wife Deborah, Gary D. Lucey and wife Laurie and Stephen M. Luceyand wife Marie. Great grandmother of Jacquelyn A., Daniel P. IV, Kyle, David S. Jr., Michael S. Nicole K., Robert A. III, Jennifer S., Ashley H., Jennifer L. Cheri L., Makayla F., Stephen M. Jr, Amanda L., Devin P., Cassidy R. and the late Christopher Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Aunt of Doris Marini and her husband Edward. Funeral Services will be held Saturday June 29 at 11 AM in the First United Methodist Church, 645 Main St, Melrose. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W Foster St, Melrose Friday 4 to 8 PM. Burial will be in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.
